Sprockets & Segments
Drive sprockets and bolt-on segments engineered for synchronized wear with KSS track link systems. Rim and segment configurations available.
Configurations
Two designs. One engineering standard.
Rim Sprocket
Lower initial cost, direct replacement
One-piece rim sprocket for equipment where full sprocket replacement is the standard maintenance protocol. Optimized tooth profile for engagement with KSS track links.
Segment Sprocket
Lower maintenance cost, field-replaceable segments
Bolt-on segment design that allows individual segment replacement without removing the hub. Segments are designed for synchronized wear with KSS track link assemblies.
Why Segment Design Matters
Maintenance Economics
When only one or two segments are worn, segment design allows targeted replacement rather than full sprocket removal. This reduces parts cost and machine downtime significantly.
Synchronized Wear Design
KSS segment tooth profile is engineered specifically to match the link pitch of KSS track link systems. Synchronized wear means both components reach end-of-life at predictable intervals — enabling planned replacement instead of emergency change-out.
Field Maintenance
Segment removal requires standard tooling and does not require sprocket hub removal. This makes field replacement feasible at the machine, reducing maintenance bay dependency.
Field Context
Mismatched sprockets accelerate track link wear — and vice versa.
The sprocket-to-link interface is the highest-stress point in the undercarriage drive system. Every time the final drive rotates, sprocket teeth engage link bushings under load. If the tooth profile is not matched to the link pitch and bushing diameter, wear concentrates at the contact edge rather than distributing across the tooth face.
This mismatch is common when sprockets and track links are sourced from different suppliers with slightly different dimensional standards. The result is accelerated bushing wear, increased sprocket tooth loading, and a compressed service interval for both components.
KSS sprockets are dimensioned specifically for KSS track link assemblies. When used together, the tooth profile engages the bushing across the designed contact area — producing synchronized wear and a predictable combined service life that enables planned replacement scheduling.
System Engineering
KSS sprockets are engineered as a system with KSS track links.
Using KSS sprockets with KSS track links ensures the tooth profile and link pitch are synchronized — producing a predictable wear curve and enabling accurate service planning.
